CATERERS: Hearthstone Catering: (970) 453-7028 Hearthstone is the #1 caterer in the county and does an excellent job. You will end up paying for their experience and top-quality service, but many brides feel that Hearthstone is worth it. CLERGY AND OFFICIANTS: (Please read about Marriage Licenses (below) if you do not already have a clergy or officiant in mind. In the State of Colorado, couples are able to 'marry themselves' without the presence of an official - a friend or your favorite uncle can guide you through the ceremony if you would like - the wedding is legal and recognized in all fifty states.) Father Rex (970) 406-8282 St John's Episcopal Church Father Rex is a large bear of a man ~ kind and warm, you will never feel as though you are being married by a stranger. He marries all denominations -- the only requirement for him, is that you be in love. He will marry you at St Johns (a beautiful old 1800s church in downtown Breckenridge), at our beautiful home, or wherever your wedding leads you. He does require a little pre-wedding counseling, but I promise that you will enjoy every moment spent with him. Rev. Bob Ensign High Country Hitchin' & Mountain Man Marryin's 719-836-3545 Reverend Bob performs custom built marryin's in almost any location. Specializing in outdoor ceremonies, shotgun weddin's and elopement nuptials. Knots tied with or without sidearm. All work fully guaranteed. DECORATIONS: Many brides prefer to 'personalize' the space for their special day. You are free to decorate the lodge in any way you would like without damaging walls, furniture, or floors ~ we simply ask that you return them to their original condition before you leave. DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT: In order to reserve your wedding dates when reserving the entire house for you and your guests, we require a $1000 non-refundable deposit. The balance of your total is due 90 days prior to your arrival. Please discuss your plans with us if you have decided on a date and are still waiting for commitment from your family members. If you are eloping to Breckenridge, and your wedding party is small, we then use our standard deposit of 1/2 of the room rates plus the amount of any marriage package we have put together. The second half for the room rate is then due 30 days prior to your arrival. Any fees incurred for the wedding set up, reservations, or extras will be received as required. LICENSE INFORMATION See below LIQUOR You are welcome to bring your own beer, wine, and champagne or contact us and we will help you with a nearby liquor store. (This is an enormous cost savings for most brides ~ it is not unusual for liquor purchased through a reception facility to be one of the most expensive elements of a wedding!) City liquors - (970) 453 4313 Ridge Street Wine - (970) 453 7212 Applejack in Denver - (303) 233 3331 LODGING FOR OVERFLOW GUESTS: Please contact us for help with overflow. We would first recommend Four Peaks Inn for individual rooms, or renting the entire bed and breakfast. We can also find a nearby home, condo, or hotel if your overflow needs are great. MASSAGE AND PAMPERING Mountain Sanctuary - (970) 547 1610 Blue Sage - (970) 547 5926 OUTDOOR WEDDINGS: TenMile Station - At, 10,234 feet, TenMile Station is a setting you and 200 of your favorite people won't have to rely on wedding photos to remember. Huge, picture windows beam all the glory of the Upper Blue Valley inside. But if you really want to take their breath away, step out onto the oversized deck. It's a place dreams are made of. TenMile Station is available late May through September. Bergenhof - Modern romance dances cheek to cheek with rustic, old world charm at The Bergenhof. It's a local favorite and it's easy to see why. Here you and up to 225 guests will have a view of the Colorado Rocky Mountains that enchants event those who've seen it a thousand times before. A wedding on the deck with the majestic Baldy Mountain as the backdrop will make your day a perfect 10. The Bergenhof is available April through November. The Maggie - Named after Maggie Pond just off the deck, with the reflection of one of Breckenridge's most celebrated ski mountains, Peak 9, shimmering on the water. This place is the reason they invented the picture window, and there are many. Because on your day, the setting has to be as beautiful as you always dreamed. Indoors or out on the patio, The Maggie easily charms up to 225 guests, and is available during the day and evening from May through October or after 7:30 PM in the evening from November through April. Sapphire Point - For weddings under 35, Sapphire Point (managed by the Park Service) is a wonderful option. The overlook at Sapphire Point offers stunning views of Lake Dillon Reservoir and the Tenmile Range. It is located between Keystone and Breckenridge on Swan Mountain Road. Sapphire Point is the only designated site where wedding ceremonies are permitted to take place in the Dillon Ranger District. For more information regarding site reservations please call the Dillon Ranger District at (970) 468-5400. Information and pictures of Sapphire Point Overlook can be viewed at http://www.dillonrangerdistrict.com/. PLANNING: Shanon and JJ Bosgraaf live and manage the Four Peaks Inn on-site (only 5 minutes from the Grand View Lodge) and are available to help from behind the scenes to help you in any way to make your wedding weekend perfect. You can reach us at (970) 453-3813. PRICING: Pricing is very simple. All of our rates are for a three-night minimum rental of the home. Nightly rates may vary from our standard pricing on our rates pages. Please call for a quote. For very small weddings, weekday weddings, or weddings during our off season, we will consider shorter wedding rentals, but we encourage our brides to consider three nights so that they are not rushed during their special weekend. In all cases, the cost is slightly higher than renting a similar number of hotel rooms, but certainly less than renting hotel rooms plus a wedding and reception facility. We do not require the use of a particular set of vendors, so you are free to shop for the best rates and service. Also, you are free to bring your own alcohol and there is no need for a bartender ~ most couples set up their bar with beer and wine and ask the caterer to serve the first glass of champagne at the reception for a toast. (One thought for couples on a tight budget: Friends and family traveling into the area typically expect to cover their own hotel expenses. You can certainly request that they stay with you and pay for their room as they would a standard hotel room. They will be more comfortable than they would be at a Holiday Inn and can help defray the overall cost of your wedding.) Ultimately, a private home wedding is an economical and elegant alternative to the standard wedding venue. REHEARSAL DINNERS: Most couples host their rehearsal dinner at the house. You are also free to ask one of the local caterers to host your dinner at the house, or we can help arrange for reservations at one of Breckenridge's finest restaurants. Hearthstone - (970) 453 1148 Café Alpine - (970) 453 8218 RENTALS: Colorado Tents and Events: 970-262-6858 Hearthstone Catering: (970) 453-7028 For extra chairs, tables, and dishes, special service items, etc..... We have service for 20 guests for rehearsal and for family dinners, but you will probably need additional linens, dishware, and glasses on your wedding day. RULES: We do not allow shoes anywhere in our homes ~ you are free to walk in your stocking feet (our beautiful hardwood floors are kept scrupulously clean). Brides sometimes wear ballet slippers. We also do not allow smoking in the homes or on the decks and there is a stiff fine if this rule is not strictly adhered to (the Colorado Mountains are considered high desert and fire danger is very high). Other than this, OUR home is YOUR home throughout your stay and we want you to feel as though you are getting married in your own living room with the Colorado Mountains as your backdrop. We ask that you love our homes as we do and return them to us in the condition that you found them......so that couples can enjoy their vows in them for years to come! Please read the following information before going to get your marriage license. It will save you from having to make two trips! The Bride and Groom need to apply in person. If one of you is unable to apply in person, you will need to fill out an absentee application that has to be signed by a notary public. In the state of Colorado, the legal marriage age is 18. If you are under the age of 18, you will need to have a notarized consent form signed by a legal guardian. You will need to provide your Social Security card and one of the following forms of ID:
Passport Birth Certificate with a raised seal Other state or military ID your divorce was finalized in, or the date and place of death. The Fee is $20 cash. You cannot pay with credit card or check. The license is only good for 30 days. There is no waiting period, so it can be used right away. In the state of Colorado, blood tests are NOT required. In the State of Colorado the bride and groom can marry themselves or a registered minister, pastor, judge, magistrate, or certain Indian Tribe members can marry them. In other words, anyone (your cousin, a friend) can perform the ceremony (this is a lovely option for couples traveling to the area who do not have an established relationship with a minister). To make it legal the bride & groom must sign as the official on the marriage certificate and have one witness sign as the witness. The person performing the ceremony can sign as the witness or someone else can sign as the witness. You just have to make sure that the bride and groom sign the certificate so they are marrying themselves. When you apply for the marriage license tell them you are marrying yourselves and have them show you exactly where to sign.
